• Net for jumpers

Hello everyone, I've been troubled by the issue of fish jumping out of the aquarium for a long time. I don't know why this happens, but in a year and a half, about five fish have managed to jump out, which is quite a lot. When the yellow wrasse that had been with us from the beginning jumped out, I finally decided to explore options. I settled on one that has the following advantages: correct cross-section, transparency, strength, and elasticity. The downsides are the price and expensive delivery. I got aluminum mosquito profiles + corners + sealant, calculating the profiles to assemble two nets - the main one about 80*40 cm and a feeding hatch 20*40 cm. Here’s the nuance: I initially wanted to make it sized to fit into the open space like a mosquito net in a window, but I changed my mind and made it simply lay over the entire area of the aquarium. The reason is that aluminum is toxic, and direct/close proximity to water can start this process, so I decided not to take risks and maximally removed the aluminum profiles from the water and salt deposits. I wouldn't mind replacing the profile with plastic, but I haven't found where to get such materials to assemble it myself. P.S. I have a lot of nets; if anyone needs, I can cut some.

The idea is good. But: 1. It's better to use a mesh with larger cells - less light loss. 2. A plastic profile can be used as a curtain rail, but it requires some adjustments. Aluminum is painted - what harm is there?

And to shade, especially to reflect.

The plastic profile from the mosquito net, the one that is installed on windows... You can skip searching on prom.ua and just order a mosquito net of the required size and re-stretch it.
