• Is a successful launch of a marine aquarium on dry reef rock possible?

  • Darrell7542

Hello everyone, friends. The question arises, is it possible to start with dry rock (DR) and a minimal amount of live rock (LR)? Does anyone have real positive experience? I would be very grateful!)

Comrades, let's not be shy!)

Good evening. I started with dry reef rocks. There is a small description in my thread. My advice: thoroughly clean the dry reef rocks mechanically. Use a brush and a pressure washer. If possible, soak them in hydrogen peroxide and then in osmosis water. Assemble structures from the dry reef rocks. They are easy to work with: cutting, drilling, fitting. Find titanium rods or tubes and build the composition on them. Drill holes for the plates, then you will insert the frags there. Live rocks or rubble of live rocks in the sump. I think about 20 percent of the dry reef rocks.

James

Is it impossible without hydrogen peroxide?

Daniel

Thank you for the detailed response. Now I understand that everything is real) Did you put J.K. (living stones) in the display or in the samp?

You're welcome. I can only say that I have launched many times on S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), and each launch has always been somewhat individual, with some going positively and others negatively, along with all the resulting consequences of launching on S.R.K. (dry reef rocks). However, I can say that a launch with minimal problems is possible, although it is not as favorable as on L.K. (live rocks). I placed L.K. (live rocks) in the display.

sailor, thank you for the clarification! Where can I buy hydrogen peroxide? In medical supplies?

Christopher

I bought 150 5-liter canisters of 25% hydrogen peroxide on OLX, and now there's a new trend of using it to purify water in pools, supposedly eco-friendly and effective. Be sure to place a powerful pump in the container where you soak the dry reef rocks (S.R.K.), as it speeds up the process. And don't fill the water to the brim; when you add the peroxide, a foam cap will rise first. WORK ONLY IN RUBBER GLOVES AND GOGGLES. You can get a serious burn. For 30 kg of S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), I used 10 liters of peroxide. I described it in my topic.

Just take a 1ml pharmacy vial and it will be fine.

James

Did you do that? I'm afraid there will be too much dead organic matter for such a small concentration of peroxide...

Anna9752

It will be nonsense!!!!
