• Help me figure out the water.

For about six months, the zoanthids have not been growing, rarely opening, and not all of them, and even a few of the montiporas are slowly fading and dying over the course of several months. They gradually lighten and then die. Even the Xenia is not growing! The sarcophytons, euphyllia, caulastrea, and anemones are behaving normally, and the fish are fine as well. The aquarium is 400 liters, with just under half of it filled with rocks, salinity at 1.23, temperature at 25, using Tetra salt, and I change 50 liters of water every two weeks.

Can you provide more details about your system? What kind of water are you using? This is the main question. Water parameters in the aquarium: pH, Nitrates-NO3, Ca. And what kind of lighting do you have? My salinity is within the range of 1.024-1.025, leaning more towards 1.025. The temperature is 25-26 degrees, pH (from 8.0 to 8.3), Ca 450 on average. Nitrates NO3 no more than 0.5 ppm.

Jennifer

I use osmosis, there is a resin cartridge, and the output is 003ppm. The light is LED with 28 white diodes and 56 blue Cree LEDs. Please recommend which tests to buy and where. I had Tetra tests for No3, but they are primitive with color strips) No3 shows above the norm. I feed frozen artemia, thawing it without rinsing; could this be the reason?

Michael5242

And one more question, I ordered a Jebao VP40 pump, is it enough for the aquarium or should I add something else? The dimensions of the tank are 170 50 50.

Christopher8654

How many watts are the diodes? With nitrate and such lighting, you probably have everything in the grass? Post some photos.

Cheryl9296

worked at a length of 150 with an average system load at the 1st speed, which was more than enough.

Christine864

There are no herbs at all, I will post a photo in a few days, and I don't know how many watts the diodes are.

Amy9618

What do you use to measure salinity?

Raven7170

Buy salifert tests.

Eric8832

I measure the salt with a Tetratec comfort hydrometer. I raised the salinity to 1025.

Daniel

I asked because there is a chance that your "measuring device" is not showing correctly... before adding, you need to make sure... You have many sailors in Kharkiv, ask them to measure with a refractometer, and only then proceed... It could be salinity, or it could be overexposure... and not just that...

Nicole263

Please let me know which specific tests need to be purchased, pH, Ca, NO3? Or something else?

Melissa3820

I read through all the information again, I have many questions, tests won't be enough, call me, it will be faster.

Charles894

I spoke with you six months ago - you bought antifos and a reactor, why haven't you installed them yet? Your system was overloaded with fish, and now a lot of organic matter has accumulated... it's hard to remove it with water changes - there is constant background noise from what has built up. There is no algae eater, and besides the foam skimmer, there is no other way to export organic matter. SPS corals are not growing, I'm more than sure - high phosphates, a lot of organic matter, low KH and calcium, and as far as I remember, to prevent algae from growing on the rocks, you reduce the light intensity...

Joseph9203

Hello! Back then, I bought a reactor, but I solved the problem within a week by turning off the lights, and I decided not to bother with the reactor. I'm not setting it up now because I'm having issues with the technical side, all these adapters, etc. I think I can manage with the water drain; I just didn't expect it to remove organic matter so effectively. To be honest, I was fine with everything before, but now I want the system to be vibrant!!! Not just barely surviving like it is now.

Jacqueline6670

here's a photo

Ricardo7341

Yura, there are tests and a refractometer. We can measure everything this weekend or next week.

Andrew9581

Thank you so much!!! I will be very grateful! When you have time, please write.

Angela7060

Thank you for your help, when we do the test I will definitely call and ask for advice!

Debbie3587

Thank you very much for your help!!! I did the tests and it turned out that: nitrate about 70-80 kh 8.9 Ca 440 Mg 1390 I will try to quickly reduce the nitrates and will let you know what happened.

Melissa3200

Also, MG is there to help you, as it's difficult to match the spectrum with diodes, and without additional light, the umbrellas perish. Thanks, Ksyusha (from personal experience), 2-3 hours every two to three days is enough.

Robert800

If there is such a nitrate, then the phosphate is around 3-5. Remove it only comprehensively; if you remove only the nitrate, everything will be covered with blue-green algae, and if you remove only the phosphate, everything will be covered in filamentous algae. Just doing water changes for phosphate won't help—it has accumulated in the rocks. Start doing water changes more often, turn on the skimmer, dose carbon, or introduce a good algae eater, and for phosphate, use a reactor.

Laurie3842

You asked for advice and are outraged, algae farmer, thinking from the very beginning, or buying pellets, doing tests before the launch, reading theory before the launch, you have had the aquarium for almost a year, and the forum members in front of you are kind of justifying themselves.

Brandon4517

Who are you to?

Tammy2040

I ordered Ultra Bak for nitrates, and I will check if there is something for phosphates as well. Tomorrow I will start the algae scrubber.

Lee

Thank you, I have an old magnesium, and if nothing changes after removing nitrates and phosphates, I will try magnesium.

Stephen

I further increased the performance of the lifting pump and it seems to be better at removing foam, and I recently installed a proper flow pump; before it was very weak, I hope this will help as well.

Lindsay

I hope it's not all that bad to give up. Please let me know who works with reactors, as I can't do it myself. And my light is not constantly dimmed; I did it this way for the second time, and usually, it's almost at maximum brightness.

James1625

There is no connection here! On the contrary, the faster the water exchange between the display and the SAM, the less time the foam can process the water.

Wendy

So, do you already have the reactor? (Did you get it from Tim?)

Brandon4517

Yura, have you already ordered a new samp or are you going to redo the old one?

Susan1358

the reactor, that is, but I don't understand what to do with it)))

Stephen5841

I cleaned the sample, I will redo it now, and later I want to change it!

Jennifer5371

I advised to remove all the sand and rinse it well when changing the water!

Ryan7682

If you dare, first get the sand, and then make the substitution; the nitrate phosphate will jump so high that you won't believe it.

Hunter1471

and it is preferable to remove the sand with a siphon so that it goes away with the dirt

Ryan1989

Can someone do more substitutions? I usually change 50 liters.

Elizabeth882

Today I got into the water, and I had a scratch on my finger. I discovered that the water was electrifying, and it was only felt on the wound, and it’s probably been like this for a long time! I noticed it a couple of times, thought it was the heater and replaced it, but it turned out to be the lamp! Could this be the reason for the poor growth of some corals?

Melanie

no.
