• Sand or coral crumb?

  • John3335

I'm actually setting up a marine aquarium with a 180-liter tank plus a sump. I already have the aquarium and the sump, and I also have salt. I can't decide whether to choose sand or crushed coral, and which fractions are more practical. I haven't seen either in person. I would appreciate any advice.

Definitely sand

What advantages does he have compared to the crumb?

A lot! Sand promotes and accelerates the startup and maintenance of good water quality. There are a huge number of living organisms in the sand, which is scarce in gravel. It’s also aesthetically pleasing, giving a beautiful natural look and benefiting the aquarium. White sand looks more attractive than gray-green gravel filled with detritus.

Thank you very much for the advice. Can you tell me how much I need for a bottom size of 100×40?

Larry

And also, it's fun to see the lip fish burrowing into the sand.
