• Which aquarium is quieter?

  • Raven7170

Good day to everyone. A very important question has arisen for me regarding which type of aquarium is quieter. Specifically, will a freshwater or a marine aquarium make more noise in the room? The compressor used in freshwater aquariums is extremely loud, and it's impossible to find a super quiet one. Does a marine aquarium, with all its equipment, also produce a lot of noise or not?

Larry

Nonsense in my opinion, and in both aquariums the sound depends on the quality of the equipment and hearing. If your concern is not about money but about noise, then it's only through experience. In general, the sea is considered louder, but the sea is the sea.

Laura4892

The sea is louder????? I was sure it was the other way around and I'm trying to find confirmation for that here.

Dawn6148

Freshwater ones can also vary; a compressor is not always necessary. I have the quietest freshwater one. It depends on the equipment; it can be noisy or quiet, both are possible.

Ashley5975

In my freshwater tank, only the external filter makes noise. There is no compressor. It doesn't really interfere with sleep (in complete silence, the filter is almost inaudible in the closed cabinet).

Danielle

Oh, I don't know... I sleep with all the compressors and filters on. Guests sometimes can't fall asleep, so we have to turn them off. But it's a matter of habit... A friend lived on Saksahanskoho Street, where trams used to run, and she slept like a log, but once I stayed over at her place and couldn't fall asleep all night... Maybe there was really another reason, but I could hear the trams clearly...))

Emily

of course the sea: waves, tides, storms

Zachary

It depends on the equipment; the old Aquael filter buzzes like crazy, while the new Dophin KF-150 is completely silent even at night, so it all depends on you, whether you want to choose a quiet or loud filter.

Selena4467

If we set aside the nuances and specifics, let's take a simple average freshwater and saltwater fish. Which one will be quieter?

Kimberly4253

It's like the average temperature in a hospital...

Karen1649

It seems like everything has already been explained to you...)) Freshwater aquariums can vary, and based on that, the necessary equipment is selected, and a lot depends on the quality as well. You can install a compressor in a freshwater tank that will be louder than any marine aquarium...))

Helen

You are an interesting person, what does the hum or the compressor's operation have to do with it? I am asking how the aquarium will work more quietly????!!!!! No matter how quiet the compressor is, the bubbles that come out of the diffuser create an unbearably loud noise, making it impossible to sleep!!! Is there something similar in a marine aquarium? The question is, if the equipment is the quietest and most reliable, will it still be the case?

Jacob4800

You are even more interesting... I have four freshwater aquariums, ranging from 120 to 500 liters, and none of them have a compressor, just like there are no noisy bubbles... So what is there to compare???)) I think there is much more equipment in a marine aquarium... draw your conclusions.

Kenneth7331

How do you have them without compressors?

Lynn4242

Is a compressor an essential attribute of a freshwater aquarium? Have the plants already been canceled?

Steven

at night???? Added after 39 seconds well, if you don't have any fish there, then of course it's possible

Whitney

If you are asking such a question, then it is even more difficult for me to answer your main question... P.S. I don't even have a compressor in my aquarium hobby stash!

Crystal4879

But how do fish exist in nature at night??? Haven't you thought about it? There are no compressors in rivers and lakes, and the oxygen consumed is the one that plants released during the day.

Denise

I recommend you read the BASICS of aquaristics...

Elizabeth1221

I will not argue with anyone, but if you put a dozen or two fish in a 20-liter aquarium, you will definitely need a compressor. And at night too. Especially with plants. Initially, we are discussing a spherical horse in a vacuum. You asked a question, you received an answer, you didn't like the answer, and now you are starting to argue to get the response you want. That won't happen. If you want a specific answer, please ask the right question.

Kellie

Honestly, with such nerves, you shouldn't go to the sea. Don't take it as rudeness. Better a nano aquarium with moss and shrimp.

Tina

Yes! Strombus snails tap their shells against the glass at night. Praying mantises click, which makes you jump, and the Newarchus grunts all night long. It's quite a horror. But it's so beautiful!

Mitchell7972

Thank you very much, you really inspired me )))). I've wanted to go to the sea for a couple of years now. I hope to start renovating my new apartment in the next month and fulfill my dream. I won't argue about this at all. My nerves are not up to par, that's a fact. And these nano aquariums have already become boring, I've had them for many years, and the shrimp no longer bring me joy.

Debra8438

Please let me know who in Kharkiv is engaged in the production of marine aquariums, their design, and further maintenance. I need a very high-quality, advanced, and highly competent specialist in this field. I want a super awesome aquarium!!!

Adrienne

super bomb and not a mini, it won't be quiet, there will definitely be a skimmer, and that thing makes a good humming sound, so if you hear the hissing of bubbles from the compressor, you'll need to move the aquarium filtration system to some storage room behind the wall, that's what many do, they call it a fish room, but you get used to any sound pretty quickly, I used to live near an airport, and I didn't hear it, and you talk about bubbles, I swear it's not serious

Ashley5975

I understand you, but I am very sensitive to sound. Therefore, until I personally hear the operation of all this equipment, I cannot make a decision. Just a hint.

Cheryl

So, there will be no solution at all. Any equipment creates noise not on its own, but as part of a system, i.e., pump-pipes - cabinet-aquarium.

Bryan1851

It will be ))))

Danielle

Off-topic: to lower the noise sensitivity threshold, one can go to a shooting range, work with a jackhammer, have neighbors who are constantly renovating, etc. All of this is just excuses for making a decision.

Alyssa1438

Regarding the neighbors, I have identified all of them who were doing renovations outside the legally established hours; for one, I even had to take some unpleasant measures, but everything was legal. As for the decision, it has already been made. I am waiting to move into the new apartment, or rather for the start of the renovation work. After that, a definite place for the sea will be determined.

Monique1236

Well, that's a completely different matter! In the meantime, as they say, study the material. The forum is here to help you!

Anthony

preferably more

Eric5208

This is exactly what I'm doing right now. I've only realized one thing: I need a person, a professional, who will bring all this to life. Yes, and I also wanted to know which Russian-speaking forum is the most authoritative, so to speak? Added after 50 seconds: It's a fact, but without practice, theory remains just theory.

Amy5070

you set a minimum of half a ton and practice until you hit, it turns out cheaper than moving from a small volume to a large one. so there are two of them - and the riffcentral (after ours, of course)

Alexander

, +1001%%%

Nancy

Unfortunately, no professional will be able to meet your requirements. There simply isn't an aquarium that will satisfy you; they all make noise...

Julie4738

No, well, you can organize a fish room, let it be noisy there, but that's already different volumes and different resources.

Andrea

Yeah, and put the vortex in.

John3165

Well, yes!!!

Daniel4967

Could you please provide a bit more detail here?

Karen2578

and here too ))

Mario

It's the second year he's working hard, and I don't even hear him; he's operating in "reef top" mode at max. And the night mode isn't even detectable by noise.

Eric5208

Igor, if you can't hear the 40th, then that's already a problem... When I removed the Vortex and installed the Tunes, it felt like I entered another world. An aquarium in the bedroom.

Dawn6148

I have a ten, which is a bit too little, but it's an addition.

Jenny

Igor, a 10 in your volume is up to hell... put your hand 20 cm away from it - you won't feel anything anymore.

Joseph9203

It's blowing normally, so there's no need for that; in the opposite corner, the records are grumbling at the peak. I still have the 102s set up.
