• Stones from the "Epicenter"

These are such stones. They are sold as decorative stone from Italy. A search online suggests that this is fossilized coral (there are inclusions of sea shells). The price is 9.90 per kg. The sizes vary. The density is very low (a bag of stones weighs 28 kg). They are very dirty and need to be washed thoroughly in running water or at a car wash.

The external shape is not bad, but the color orange confuses me. When you wash them well, do they lighten up or do they stay the same? P.S. Off-topic: Anatoly once taught me! A stone that is bright yellow, especially orange, cannot be in the reef!

They are lightening. This reddish coating partially washes off immediately with water and partially disappears after some time. I will post all the water tests after three months of these stones being in the water in the evening. Correct. These colors indicate the presence of soluble iron salts, which can cause an algal bloom. In my case (since this is a macrophyte tank), this is not so significant.

Can you briefly explain what kind of light and other equipment is in this aquarium?

There is nothing there. Sand - coral crumb. Rocks - see above + some rubble from live rocks for landscaping. Light - 2x54 T5 Dennerle AmazonDay + Special Plant (left over from freshwater). Hanging filter Aquael FZN-3, 1200 l/h. One JVP-102 water pump. A very small internal skimmer (just for a bit of surface skimming). Living creatures: Macrophytes (this is actually a macrophyte tank). Accidentally bred corals (Xenia, Zoanthids, Ricordea). Butterflyfish. Launched on November 15, 2012.

I thought all along that it was a shell limestone. But the stone in the Malawian did just fine.

It is interesting to know the test results.

Test results: kN - 13 pH - 7.6 Ca + Mg - 1700 Ca - 440 SiO2 - < 0.1 NO3, PO4, Cu, Fe - traces.

These stones have been in the aquarium since 1994, and they were previously sold as volcanic lava. They also have imprints of shells; the stone is beautiful. I will take a photo if possible.
