• Questions about mixed reef in the aquarium

  • Kevin

Good afternoon. I want to raise the issue of a mixed reef. I read various opinions on our forum, particularly in the thread about aquariums, and a message stating that it is difficult to create good conditions for different species of corals and invertebrates. Therefore, questions arose - is it possible to create an aquarium where soft corals (Xenia, sarcophytons, and similar), anemones, SPS (small-polyped corals), and LPS would thrive? Would such an aquarium be a sign of bad taste? For example, if I create ideal conditions for SPS (flow, concentration of Ca, Mg, appropriate KH, pH, additions of strontium, iodine, trace elements), would anemones do well in such an aquarium? Or perhaps provide a link where I can read about similar topics. Thank you in advance.

I have a 700-liter aquarium. I would like to have both anemones and sarcophytons, as well as a dozen acroporas. Is it possible to create a list for a mixed reef close to my volume, where the mentioned corals and invertebrates could coexist well? It just seems that when reading coral atlases, it gives the impression that you can put them all in one aquarium, just by organizing different currents. Something tells me that this is far from the case...

This is just an experiment. In the aquarium from Airif, a shark lives and it's fine, but it's alone. You can try to divide it into zones, but only without fanaticism. A small example: In my fighting aquarium, which was originally intended for anemones and ricordeas, an Entacmaea lives. About three months ago, it split and there became two. During this time, both have grown. One of them found another home. The one that stayed felt something and split again. Now both have been crawling around the aquarium for a week, going over everything that gets in their way...

Okay, it's a deal! I'll be in Kyiv in two Sundays.
