• Help with advice!!!

Good day to everyone! I have a desire to create a marine corner. After reading forums and watching videos online, the information is swirling in my head. There are many questions that seem to have answers, but everyone seems to say different things. I’ll say right away that I’m a beginner in this matter; I’m into herbalism, and the sea is new to me. I would like to somehow systematize all of this; I need help from knowledgeable people. 1. I have decided on the volume; I don’t want a large tank, I have a 250L herbal tank, and I’m thinking about around 30L. 2. What equipment is needed for effective maintenance? 3. What substrate and rocks are needed, and where can I buy them? 4. What water should I use and how should I prepare it? 5. What chemicals are necessary? 6. Etc. I think you have heard these questions many times, but nevertheless, I would like to discuss all these issues and understand the systematics. Thank you in advance for your help.

Listen, you'll understand later. Make the aquarium 60d 35w 35h, it's a very good size, and there won't be any problems with the lights; you'll only need 4 T5 lamps at 24w each. You can take about 5-6 kg of dry reef rocks (S.R.K.) or live rocks (J.K.) for now. The water should be osmosis water but without mineralization. You will need 5-8 kg of aragonite sand, with a layer of 2-3 cm at most. If you plan to go without a sump, then you'll only need circulation pumps, lights, and a refractometer to measure salinity. For chemicals, at first, you'll only need salt and tests for nitrate, phosphate, and carbonate hardness.

Thank you for your help as a beginner aquarist. I read your thread and am very impressed with the work you have done. Yes, there are indeed people to learn from. Well done, keep it up! Choosing an aquarium is really a question. Today I will go scouting at the pet superstore Zooland. I'm thinking whether to buy a ready-made system or to assemble it myself. If I decide to assemble it, I haven't figured out the equipment yet, how it works and what is needed for such a volume. Maybe you could share some ideas. What should I do? Thank you!

Shawn

It's better to read the forum section "Marine Aquariums of Forum Members." There, you can find a more or less detailed description of what and how, and there are plenty of small aquariums similar to the one you want. Don't rush into buying; it's better to study the theory and understand the concept to avoid making mistakes or having to rebuild the purchased aquarium.

Jeffery

It's better to assemble the aquarium yourself, taking into account all the nuances for your needs. For the mentioned aquarium sizes, these two lights will be suitable. For the current, these two pumps will work. You can use this type of sand. That's about it for a start.

I have looked through almost all the topics on the forum. There is a lot of information, and everyone writes about their own project, which I think is right; everyone is making their own plans. I will take your advice and won't rush for now. I need to develop a project layout. There is plenty of time. Thank you for the advice.

James

I use the aforementioned equipment myself.

I'm sitting on the internet trying to find information about the working principle in marine aquarium designs, but there's no decent information. Does anyone have anything? Thank you.

Shawn

I am from Kharkiv - Kholodna Hora - I invite you to visit - take a look and ask questions. Or Call me and I'll share what I know (today until 6 AM) and then as usual. On my resource, I will try to gather everything in one place -

Islam, thank you for the information, I will definitely read it. I was at the PTICHKA today and spoke with Anatoly, he gave me your phone number. I just logged onto the forum and here I am, looking and amazed, your number, what a coincidence!!! I will definitely call. Thank you for the invitation.

Good afternoon, everyone. Patience has its limits; I found a place where everything will be set up. I decided on the dimensions of the aquarium: 50x50x50 (125 liters). I ask for your feedback on this volume and what size the sump should be. Thank you.

Phillip9722

Make the length 600mm; for this length, use T5 24W. If it's for LED or MG, then 500mm is also acceptable.

I think I will plan for the Sun Sun light with a 55 cm lamp; 4 bulbs should be enough for my volume.

You were already advised to make the length 600, you should have listened... Normal lamps are from 600 mm.

If you are reading my topic, you will surely see my response about the dimensions of the aquarium; I am interested in a sump for my aquarium size. If you can suggest anything, I would be very grateful to hear it. Thank you.

Angela

I read it. And what am I supposed to see there? 50x50x50 - I saw it. What will you use to illuminate it? If you've already been asked this, nothing will fit in there, what kind of overflow will there be? And the sump can only be of a size that fits in the cabinet, which is about 30x30x30 (40).

Message from Make the length 600mm; for this length, T5 24W goes, if it will be MH or LED, then 500mm is also fine. I think I will plan for the Sun Sun light with a 55 cm lamp; 4 bulbs should be enough for my volume. I will try to post the details of my project for my volume soon.

Chad9037

You asked for criticism of the volume, right? 55>50 (+ cartridges, plugs) It will stick out - one, and it might shine on the walls from both sides - two; the lamps in the Chinese fixture do not withstand special criticism, find a replacement for that size - three. SUMP - what should it contain besides the foam filter? Algae scrubber? Refugium? Balling? Scrubber? Frag tank? Auto top-off container? Where will it be located? At the bottom? On the side? Built into the display? P.S. I would remove the red color from the message...

Dennis

I will delete the topic, and if there are measurements again after my warning... with transitions.
