I seek advice, as I have encountered problems during the setup process. The tank was salted at the end of October 2012. Initially, it was modest with 3 live rocks, a zebrasoma, 2 strombus snails, and a coral. Gradually, more rocks were added, the lighting was changed to LED, and more livestock was introduced. All the inhabitants are feeling well, eating actively, and no one has died. Currently, the aquarium is 4 months old, but we cannot get rid of the vegetation on the rocks and sand. If anyone has gone through this, please advise. P.S. I performed water changes in January twice, 60 liters each time. Thank you in advance.

What kind of water treatment?

Michele9664

This could be the very problem.

Tonya

This is called dinoflagellates. Do not change the water, reduce the light to a minimum. It is advisable to add vodka.

Gabriel

Water preparation: osmosis + ion exchange resin (before salting 3ppm) Salt: Reef Crystals to salinity 1.024

Julia

Thank you very much, the light can really be dimmed a bit. But regarding the vodka, I would like to know in more detail what it will affect?

Anthony

Search the site for the vodka method. Read about it. I personally managed to overcome this nastiness. It won't go away quickly. Good luck.

I took water measurements. The pH is low. I pondered.

Danny

What exactly happens when alcohol is added to the aquas? I somehow misunderstood. The aquas are quite young - 3 months. It's shaking, it's a pity.

Nutrients are being introduced for the "good" bacteria.

Thoughtful, are there red and green LEDs in the lamp? How long ago did you add new stones? Are they pre-owned or from a store? How does the foam filter work? Is there coal or anti-phosphate in the system? How much do you feed the fish—lots or little?

Susan

Your res potential is low, it needs to be increased. Besides what E.K. advised, stop replacing the water, add carbon, check kN (if low, increase it).

Daniel

1) The light, according to reviews and specifications, is full spectrum. 2) The stones are half live and half SK (overheld). 3) I reviewed the feeding (there was indeed overfeeding), and now we have reduced it. We are measuring the water. I raised the pH a bit with soda.

Justin

Thank you for the advice, we are considering coal. I haven't used the "vodka method" yet.

Thoughtful, if there are red and green LEDs? If yes, then reduce the intensity.
