• Acrylic and coralina

I regret it now, but at the time I was convinced to make my sea out of acrylic. It seems it's already too late to change anything. Cleaning the coralline algae is really stressful, as I don't want to scratch the glass. I clean it with synthetic padding, and if I come back from a business trip, it can build up in hard-to-reach places to the point that it takes me about two hours to get the aquarium back in order. The question is - how does everyone else clean their acrylic seas from coralline algae (other types of algae come off easily and don't pose any problems)?

I clean the windows with an old plastic card.

To avoid scratching the glass, you need to clean it with a material that is less dense than glass or acrylic; in your case, a plastic card should not cause any harm. I clean my 128L tank this way.

I use sponges for non-stick coatings.

Is there acrylic there? As far as I know, there is silicate glass.

Debbie3587

Yes, there is glass, but let's say that glass is not as thick as the Belgian glass from which my 600L aquarium is made, and it scratches very easily from a blade.

I don't want to clutter the topic, but our glass also gets scratched if the blade is in an unfortunate position.

Thank you so much - I tried the card today - it really works. I'm glad I wasn't ashamed to ask ) otherwise, I would have been struggling with the synthetic material. These sponges leave barely noticeable scratches, at least the ones sold here. But the card really helped.
