Colleagues, those who use MG lighting, please share information about the distance from the lamp to the water surface and the wattage of the lamp. Thank you!!!

The height of the aquarium is 65 cm. The metal halide lamp is 250 W, and the distance from the lamp to the water is 25 cm; if possible, I would raise it to 35 cm.

Does the water get heated a lot from the lamps?

250W. Height above water level - 30-35cm. If I lower it below 25cm, it heats the water much more.

In winter, the lamp heats by 1 degree. In summer, there is a cooler; on the hottest days, the maximum in the aquarium was 28.5°C, according to the Hagen electronic thermometer.

So if I install 3x150 on my 1800x600x600 at a height of 25 cm, everything should be fine? I plan to remove 2 out of 6 T5x80 and install 3x150 MH.

Wow! Those are some dimensions! Everything must be fine! I just measured it with a tape measure. From the water to the glass on the lamp is about 15 cm. To the bulb itself is around 20 cm! I've never measured it before, thank you. This distance was chosen by my wife - it looks nicer to her in terms of design.

I also had the lamp positioned high at first, but I had to lower it because it looked really ugly.

If possible, it's better to make the light fixture on suspensions so that it can be adjusted in any direction.

Why? You are making a hard, very hard riff. Many people remove MG and install T5, so why did you decide to do the opposite? I would also recommend changing the wiring in the apartment at the same time.

I haven't decided anything yet, otherwise I wouldn't be asking. I changed all the wiring during the renovation. .................. What's wrong with MG? It just seems to me that I don't have enough light. 6x80 for 600 liters.

6x80 for 600 liters is very little. At least 8x80 is needed.

And what if, as mentioned above? 3x150 W + 4x80 (2x80) T5? 8x80 won't fit in width (if with reflectors).
