• Umbrellas are a problem...

I can't understand why some umbrellas close at night and some don't... Is this normal or not??? I tested for nitrate, phosphate, nitrite, calcium, magnesium, everything is normal... I'm really confused, is it normal for umbrellas to close at night, or do I need to look for problems in my aquarium??????????????? P.S. Everything is growing and smells good, but I really don't know about the umbrellas....................... Please advise....

Well, they close up, maybe they're getting used to the new "moon" - sometimes they close during the day - then they open up - are there any external signs of abnormality?

Vovan - they go to sleep. Well, seriously, why are you so nervous? If their appearance doesn't cause concern when they're open or no one is clearly bothering them, then relax, they can just close up during the day if they want - that's how they live.

At night, everything in my aquarium closes up: anemones, corals (some do release their tentacles, though), umbrellas, softness. I haven't seen anything open at night in my aquarium yet.
