Good day to everyone! To begin with, I have a 500-liter aquarium, launched in mid-February, with equipment including a sump, two pumps, T5 lighting with 4 lamps of 54 watts each. I plan to add two more lamps and a small additional pump. I cannot install a sump because the stand does not allow it. All parameters are within the normal range, there are a few corals, 3 strombus snails, a mandarin goby, and a clownfish. I have 30 kg of live rock and 20 kg of dry reef rock. The only thing that concerns me is a slight coating of pink algae (I'm not sure of the name) on the rocks and sand, which shrinks at night and expands during the day. As I understand it, a sump is designed to accommodate various equipment, such as a protein skimmer, heater, and of course algae, as well as other items. If I have an external protein skimmer, the algae grow in the aquarium, and then I can find a corner for them, with a siphon at the end of the skimmer. Is such a variant possible without a sump? Any suggestions are appreciated. I have photos
