• the evolution of the shrimp in the sea...

Hello everyone! I'm converting a cube shrimp tank (40x40x35, ~50 liters) into a saltwater setup. From the equipment I already have, I will be using: lighting - 3 fixtures with 2 T5 8W bulbs each, with the appropriate "marine" color temperature. Filter - an external JBL CristalProfi E700 canister, with media made from crushed live rock, Purigen, and carbon. Pump - a Koralia Nano, 1 unit. The aquarium will have 5-6 kg of live rock, non-living sand, a pair of clownfish, shrimp, conchs, fan worms, and later an anemone for the clowns. Weekly 30% water changes are planned, using Red Sea or Tetra salt, with RO water. Will such a system work okay without a protein skimmer? A sump is not possible, and I don't want to clutter the already small volume.

Odesa, hello!!! Instead of an external one, buy the simplest small hanging foam and you will be happy. If you get greasy, come visit - when I replace the 50 liters, I'll pour water into the barrel for you.

The thing is, this external one already exists, has been in use for only about six months, is completely silent, and I want to use it. I think a simple small hanging foam filter won't be very effective, but it will add noise. Thank you very much for the suggestion regarding the water, I will definitely take advantage of it!
